Village College Inc offers Fellows:
- Affordable, safe, supportive housing
- Assistance in enrolling in a workforce credential, associate’s degree or certificate program
- Weekly individualized life-coaching in the areas of finances and money management; daily living skills; communication; critical thinking;, education & employment; and emotional intelligence
- Monthly workshops that enhance the work done within the coaching sessions
- Access to transportation, including help in obtaining a driver’s license, if needed
- Community-living as part of a village of other 18-24 year-old young adults
Admission Criteria
General Criteria
- Male between the ages of 18-21 when entering the program
- Unmarried and not a primary caregiver to a child or adult
- Annual income cannot exceed $34,020, or $2,834 monthly
- In need of stable, supportive housing
- Highly motivated to succeed and seeks help when needed
- Has no record of violent crimes and will submit to a background-check
Education Criteria
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher (if applicable)
- Enrolled or plans to enroll in a workforce credential program, or pursue an associate’s degree or certificate
Health & Wellness Criteria
- Does not use illegal substances and/or abuse prescription drugs; does not use alcohol if under 21; will submit to a drug test for entry to the program as well as randomly thereafter
- Will provide a list of prescribed medications
- Will receive a mental and physical health evaluation
- Will provide a release of physical and mental health records
Village Collective Inc Fellow Requirements
Fellows accepted and living in the Village Collective Inc Program commit to the following:
- Being employed part or full-time, or in a paid-internship within 60 days of entering the program
- Being enrolled in a workforce credential program, or pursue an associate’s degree or certificate within 60 days of entering program
- Obtaining health insurance, if not already insured, within the first 30 days of entering the program
- Physical and mental health coaching and / or counseling, if deemed necessary
- Participating in Village Collective Inc. workshops on daily living and workforce readiness skills
- Meeting weekly with a Village Collective Inc. life coach
- Participating in the Village Collective Inc. community and its events
- Keeping a safe, healthy, and clean living environment
